Day 1. Cliffs of Moher – Galway. Upon early arrival at Shannon Airport, you will be met by your driver/guide and escorted to your awaiting motorcoach. This morning you will travel to Ennis and continue to Lahinch. From here you take the coast road to the majestic Cliffs of Moher which rise to a height of 600 ft over the Atlantic Ocean. Your tour continues through the lunar type landscape of the Burren Region and along the shores of Galway Bay before arriving in Galway. Following hotel check in the remainder of the afternoon is free for a well earned rest. This evening dinner is in your hotel. Overnight: Galway
Day 2. Galway – Donegal. This morning you depart Galway and travel to Donegal. Your first stop this morning is in Knock in County Mayo. It was here that Our Lady appeared in 1879 and has since become a great place of pilgrimage with thousands of people visiting each year. From here you travel to Sligo immortalized in poetry by W.B. Yeats - one of Ireland’s great poets. You continue the coast road to Bundoran before arriving in Donegal town for a two-night stay. This evening dinner is in your hotel. Overnight: Donegal.
Day 3. Donegal Tour. This morning you depart for a day tour of County Donegal, the most northwesterly county in Ireland. You will travel the coast road to Killybegs - one of Ireland’s biggest fishing ports. You continue to Ardara - centre of the Donegal homespun and knitting industry. From here, your tour winds its way around The Blue Stack mountain range and through the scenic Finn Valley before returning through the Barnesmore Gap to Donegal town. This evening you are free for dinner. Overnight: Donegal.
Day 4. Derry City. This morning you depart Donegal and travel to Strabane along the banks of the river Foyle to Derry City. On arriving in Derry City, you will take a city tour followed by a visit to The Tower Museum for a guided tour. The museum portrays the long and troubled history of this interesting city still surrounded by its 17C walls. Following some free time in Derry for lunch or a walk along the 17C walls, you will continue to Limavaddy and from here to the seaside town of Portrush. This evening dinner is in your hotel. Overnight: Portrush.
Day 5. Bushmills Distillery - Giant’s Causeway – Belfast. This morning you begin The Antrim Coast Road Drive. Your first visit this morning will be to Bushmills - the world’s oldest whiskey distillery. Here you will enjoy a guided tour followed by some whiskey tasting. Of course no visit to Northern Ireland would be complete without a visit to The Giant’s Causeway – a remarkable basaltic formation made of approximately 37,000 columns and ranked as one of the natural wonders of the world. You continue The Antrim Coast Road Drive with spectacular views of the northern coastline. On a clear day, you can see The Mull of Kintyre in Scotland. You will travel through the picturesque villages of Cushendall, Carnlough and Glenarm before arriving in Belfast. This evening dinner is in your hotel. Overnight: Belfast.
Day 6. Belfast City. This morning you will be joined by a Belfast City guide for a tour of Belfast City the largest city in Northern Ireland. You will see The Belfast City Hall – one of the finest Classical Renaissance buildings in Europe, The Linen Hall Library which has been lending books for over 200 years and The Grand Opera House often described as the most beautiful Victorian theatre in the world. You will also see The Ulster Museum, Queen’s University and Harland & Wolff’s shipyard where the Titanic was built.
This evening you are free for dinner. Overnight: Belfast.
Day 7. Belfast – Dublin. This morning you bid farewell to Belfast and travel south to Downpatrick for a visit to The Saint Patrick Centre. This exhibition presents an authentic view of St.Patrick, exploring him through his own words and in the context of the period. From here, you walk a short distance to St Patrick’s Cathedral to see the reputed burial place of St.Patrick. You continue by the foothills of the Mourne Mountains, made famous in song “where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea” to Newry. Your tour continues south to Dublin - Ireland’s capital city where you will have a city tour. You will see The Georgian Squares with their 18th Century houses, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Phoenix Park (the biggest town park in Europe), statue filled O’Connell Street and the fashionable Grafton Street. You will also see Trinity College, which in its library houses The Book of Kells.
This evening you travel to “The Merry Ploughboy” for a farewell dinner and a lively night of Irish ballads and traditional Irish dancing. Overnight: Dublin.
Day 8. Depart Dublin. This morning sadly you bid farewell to Ireland as you travel a short distance to Dublin Airport for departure.
